Despite the cultural conflicts between the Orient and the Occident,there do exist some admirable ingredients in the Western culture.Traditionally,Chinese peopele like to have meals at home and celebrate Chinese festivals.However,more and more people prefer to eat outside now .They buy coffee in Starbucks and Hamburg in McDonal's and celebrate western festivals such as Valentine's Day and Christmas.
The reason why people admire western festivals lies mainly in the belif that the western culture is superior.They believe Western meals are quicker and their dining rooms are cleaner.The western people have more independent personality and the individual seems equal.For example,the parents are not always superior to their children,and children do not always have to obey their parents' order.Moreover,people don't judge each other by their background.
I strongly disagree with the belief that a culture can be considered better than others.If we admire Western culture too much,it will dominate in our country.In the end,we will lose our cherished Chinese culture.
