Wind rustled crunching leaves
that on the sidewalk lay.
there was a big storm coming
on a windy autumn day.
Thunder rumbled overhead
and shook me thru and thru
a jagged bolt of lightning struck!
the sky then cracked in two!
Rain washed down the dirty road.
it hissed,and gushed,and muttered.
the downpour swept dead leaves away
into the bubbling gutter.

The sky was gun metal grey with a sickly cast of green and the air felt heavy,her clothes felt so sticky and uncomfortable thanks to the unbearable humidity,she prayed for the weather to break and relieve it,ignorance truly was bliss.Had she known what this storm would bring,she would have recanted that prayer at once.Now the first rumble of distant thunder came,she turned her head toward the sky,wanting to welcome mother nature and witness the savage beauty she'd always associated with storms...

It started just as any ordinary day and nobody paid any attention to the weather that Wednesday.I had my lunch at the kitchen table about one o'clock and looked out of the window,I had this odd sense that something wasn't quite right.
I got up and went out into the yard,I noticed that everything was very still.Not just still but strangely still,no birds calling and almost no sounds at all.No!cars passing on the road,no planes flying overhead and no leaves moving on the bushes.I had almost never seen anything like this before.I stood listening for few minutes but all I could hear was my own heart beat and the sound of my breathing,I shrugged it off and then went back inside the house.
After about 10 minutes the sky darkened,I looked out again and the sky was clouding over with some very threatening dark clouds which appeared to be approaching at alarming speed.
Nothing in the world could have prepared me for what happened next,a few minutes later the wind started to gust,it came in short waves,each gust becoming more intense and with in a few minutes.The wind had become so strong the barn roof across the yard started to peel back like the skin of a large orange,then suddenly the metal sheeting was gone,blown clean off and whisked away high up into the distance.I was so shocked I had never seen anything like this before in all my years of living in the country.
Thats was just for starters after the gusting wind came the rain,well when I say rain it was more like an impenetrable curtain of water.At one point I literally couldn't even see what was left of the old barn even though I knew it was a total wreck now.And the rain just kept coming,it rained for what seemed like forever but by the following day it had started to ease off.IT was to late buy then the water had come into the farm house and flooded the pasture and the brook had bust its banks too.
