当wonder与whether〔if〕连用时,表示“思考某事,并设法判断该事是否属实”,也可表示一种委婉的请求或邀请.
wonder既可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词.用作及物动词时,可接带疑问词的动词不定式以及由that/wh-/if引导的从句作宾语; 用作不及物动词时,常与介词about, at连用.
wonder是表示愿望的动词,通常不用于进行体.只有在表示语气婉转时才可用现在进行时,但意义不是“正在想知道”.
